We are greenkeepers …… This European title for a Golf Course Superintendent embodies the many responsibilities and duties we manage on a daily basis.

As custodians of the golf course we: keep play off the course when conditions are unfavorable, monitor winter stresses, cooperate with nature, prepare the course for early spring openings, practice Integrated Pest Management (I.P.M.), direct a crew of 6 to 25 individuals, provide the best playing conditions that the environment and your budget will allow. Our field of expertise includes: equipment maintenance, Audubon practices, people management, carpentry, plumbing, landscape design, pesticide applicator, environmental manager.

We are prepared to meet the challenges of: customer expectations and demands, an increased number of rounds played, budgetary constraints, environmental pressures.

The Atlantic Golf Superintendents Association is a professional organization representing turfgrass managers and industry affiliates. The AGSA was founded in Moncton, NB in 1967. Jack Proud (‘Jumping Jack’) from PEI, was our first President. The entire membership has been invited to gather for annual meetings twice yearly since 1971:

• March: Atlantic Turfgrass Conference & Trade Show
• October: AGSA Fall Research Days

We keep our members up to date with the TURF NEWS, published on a quarterly basis. Our Board of Directors is representative of all four Atlantic Provinces.
